This volume collects the proceedings of the Workshop organized by the Ferrara Council of Europe (CDE) in collaboration with the Interest Group on International and European Migration and Asylum Law (DIEMA) of the Italian Society of International Law and European Union Law, as part of the 2017 Project of the Italian Council of Europe Network "60 Years of the European Union: Challenges and Perspectives for the Europe of Today and Tomorrow." Published in 2018, it is part of the New Notebooks series of the Ferrara Council of Europe.

Alessandra Annoni is a full professor of International Law at the Department of Law of the University of Ferrara, deputy director of Macrocrimes, and co-coordinator of the Core Crimes Laboratory.
